Just ask yourself “why would I want to put on another 3 or 4 pounds before Christmas so that I have to go through the pain of losing it after Christmas”?
Weight loss and weight maintenance can be really easy. You just need to know how to develop your own eating pattern that keeps your body and mind happy and fits in with your lifestyle. That’s all it takes to lose your excess weight and keep it off. You don’t need to rely on willpower. Your willpower will run out very quickly, after all what you do when you rely on willpower is to fight against what you really want to do for as long as you can. When your willpower runs out you just revert back to old habits and hey presto the weight goes back on and often with even more pounds.
So how can you build your own eating pattern? We are all individuals, we are all wired differently and have our own special needs and desires. So first of all we need to understand what our body needs and what our mind desires.
Once that is established we can then start to put our plan together. We chose what to eat, when to eat it and how to eat it. What we are actually doing is creating an awareness of what we eat and drink and this will soon develop into a habit. Eating mindfully allows us to enjoy and savour our food without any feelings of guilt and so why would we want to do it any other way?
